The Lonely Unicorn

Once upon a time there lived a little girl named Olivia. She lived in a village with her mother and father.

One day, she felt that she was lonely and wants a friend to play. So she walked down stairs and ran in the kitchen to ask her mother if she could find a friend. Her mother said that she can but to be careful of strangers. So she ran upstairs to pack her bag full of things that are useful for her adventure.

When she had finished packing her useful things, she ran down stairs and went out the front door. She opened the front gate and started walking. She brought a map to know which way to find a new friend.

She took out her map and see where she was going first. First she was going to the Wizard’s house. While she was walking, she passed houses, shops and parks. When she saw the Wizard’s house, she ran to tell where she can find a new friend. Then, she finally arrived. She was in the front door. She knocks on the door. Olivia waited for a while. Then the Wizard opened the door.

She went inside and explained what happened. When she had finished talking, the Wizard took her to a computer room that is full of different and colorful computers.

She took Olivia to a green and blue computer where Olivia could find a friend. The Wizard told Olivia that if she wants a new friend to play, she needs to go to the Archie Field behind a bright, green bush. Then suddenly, Olivia ran and said “THANK YOU”.

She ran out the door and pulled her map from her green and blue spotted bag. First, she had to go to her grandma’s house.

Her name was Grandma Toni. She was a nice and kind grandma. So Olivia ran to her grandma’s house. When she arrived, she knocked on the door. Olivia’s grandma opened the door and said

Ngutaua-Lui

Dear Eyang,

On Thursday the 31st of July, all the year 3 classes went on a excursion. We went to Ngutaua-Lui to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island culture.

First we had to wait for the bus to come. When the bus had arrived, we all had partners. My partner was Camila. After we had our partners, we went into the bus but, unfortunately we had to go to the second bus. We went inside and sat at the back and started talking.

Then we stopped talking and started to look out of the window. We passed houses and shops. We started to feel excited when finally we arrived at Ngutaua-Lui. We got off the bus and started to line-up. When we got inside, we sat down on the stairs and met 3 men. They introduced their names. Their names were Marlon, Wally and Robert.

After that, we had morning tea. Then we went to a song and dance with Marlon. Then Marlon painted our faces with ocher. Ocher is an under ground paint that you mix with water. First the girls got to have their face painted. Then the boys. Then Marlon told us a Dream time Story about a bully named Dungidy, who always stole food from other people. After that, we danced. The girls had to shimmy to the fake camp fire. after the girls had their turn, the boys had to shake to the fake camp fire.

After that, we went with Robert. Robert told us about how Aboriginal people live. Then he started playing the didgeridoo. He playing a dingo howling, a kangaroo bouncing and someone on the phone. Then he showed us a kangaroo skin, a snake skin and he showed us some spears. After that, we had lunch.

When we had finished our lunch, we went with Wally. We went inside and Wally told us about Torres Strait Island Culture. He pretended to throw a spear at me and I felt scared.

Then, we went with Lisa. She was from the Gubi-Gubi. She told us lots of different type of plants. We went on a bush walk and saw an ants nets. The ants were called Meat Ants which they cleaned bones. Then, we passed a bush called a Lomandra. They are for your teeth but, be careful because they are very sharp. Then we passed a tree called a Soap tree. A Soap tree was used for washing your self. Then we went back to the place where she told us about other plants.

After that, we said good-bye and went back to Ironside State School.

I had a fun day at the center and I liked the bush walk best!

Love From Sheila xoxoxo

lightbugs

Flashing like a glowing star.
Sparkling like a shiny star.
Zooming like a jet plan.
Flying like a Butterfly.
Landing like a silver ball.
Wizzing like a sports car.
But best of all is lightbugs.

Fireworks

Flashing like a Fire.
Sparkling like a colourful ribbon.
Tumbling like a wild horse.
Zooming like a sports car.
Wizzing like a silver star.
Falling like a waterfall.
But best of all i love Fireworks.
